Sony XPERIA E C1505 - Android 4.1.1 - firmware 11.3.A.0.47

Sony XPERIA E is
not interesting phone on first look. But phone have Android 4.1.1 Jelly
Bean from factory and Sony Mobile release experimental Firefox OS for
this phone. Below you can find the latest firmware for the phone and
also three tutorials/manuals - how to unlock the bootloader, how to
relock the bootloader and how to backup the original firmware
customization.

First of all
one important thing - before you start to do anything with your phone,
do the backup of your personal data. It is only for your safety in case
that something goes wrong or any mistake happens. In that case you can
use the backup to restore the data and try to do everything once again.
Each tutorial has been done many times to verify its propriety, so just
read carefully all instructions and continue step by step. For each of Sony (Ericsson) XPERIA smartphones we will provide a manual consisting of 4, 5 or 6 „HOW TO“ chapters. Our
tutorials will be of course updated every time when Sony Mobile
publishes anything new, affecting any of our topics. All important files
have been stored on my own download server, so there should be no
problem with downloading. The major part of every file has been created
by myself and every file has been tested on the corresponding phone. In
this guideline related to the Sony XPERIA Go you can find some photos
and videos showing how to proceed, but the most important thing are the
below written manuals. All referenced files are determined for Sony
XPERIA Go ST27. So, what can you expect in terms of mentioned manuals /
tutorials?

It is following 5 guidelines showing HOW TO:

1. how to install the newest Android 4.1.1 for your phone (for Sony XPERIA E C1505 it is currently the 11.3.A.0.47 firmware)

2. how to install unofficial experimental build of Firefox OS for Sony XPERIA E C1505

3. how to backup your original firmware customization (it is important in case you must send your phone to service)

4. how to unlock the bootloader (in case you want to install the custom kernels with recovery menu and much more)

5. how to relock the bootloader (in case you want to go back to stock (original) ROM or you must send your phone to service)

And now let’s do all 5 actions step by step

1. how to install the newest Android 4.1.1 for Sony XPERIA E C1505

a) first of all, check your firmware version (if you already have the newest one, you do not need this tutorial)

b) download and install latest Flashtool from here (mirror)

c) download also latest Android 4.1.1 (mirror) for Sony XPERIA E C1505

d) paste the ftf file downloaded in step c) to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtool

e)
open the XPERIA Flashtool, click on flash and choose downloaded
firmware, than click ok. Important - if you do not want to delete any
data of your phone, just uncheck flashing userdata.sin file. All data
will remain in your phone, but sometimes it can cause additional
troubles. So it is better (and I recommend that) to do the backup of
your personal data, than proceed with clean instalation and then restore
your personal data.

f) turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
g) after few minutes all is done and your phone gets the new firmware

2. how to install experimental Firefox OS for Sony XPERIA E

a) first of all, check if your bootloader is unlocked, if not, start with it

b) download and install latest Flashtool from here (mirror)

c) download also experimental Firefox OS (mirror) for Sony XPERIA E

d) paste the ftf file downloaded in step c) to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtool

e) open the XPERIA Flashtool, click on flash and choose downloaded firmware, than click ok

f) turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
g) after few minutes all is done and your phone gets new experimental Firefox OS

3. how to backup your original firmware customization

a) if you do not want to lose warranty of your phone, first thing you have to do is to backup your original customization

b) download Sony Update Service (SUS) and reinstall firmware of your phone (backup your data first)

c)
after that, go to SUS folder in Program Files and search for folder
db/some Number/blob_fs, there you find 3 files, which names start FILE
d)
download and install latest Flashtool from here (mirror)e) paste the three files, which names start FILE, from blob_fs folder to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtoolf) open the Flashtool, click on Advanced, choose decrypt files and put all three files from blob_fs folder to the right colummg) click ok and after approx. one minute a pop up Window will appear via Flashtool
h)
mark all files except simlock.ta and transfer them to the right column,
than fill in a box in the right upper corner (fill in what you want, it
is just for you)
i) now click ok and Flashtool will create backup of
your original firmware customization, that you can anytime flash to
your phone

4. how to unlock your bootloader

a) download and install latest Flashtool from here (mirror)

b) start Flashtool and click on BLU button on the top

c) turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
d) click on get unlock key button, it will switch you to Sony Mobile website, here complete all boxes
e) copy IMEI form Flashtool to Sony Mobile site, than you will get unlock code to your mailbox
f) copy unlock key to Flashtool window and than click unlock

5. how to relock your bootloader

a) download and install latest Flashtool from here (mirror)

b) start Flashtool and click on BLU button on the top

c) turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
d) just click on relock button and your bootloader is locked for now

Sony Xperia Z Updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with PACman ROM [How to Install]

April 27, 2013 10:10 AM GMT

Sony's new flagship smartphone Xperia Z currently
running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean can be updated to the latest Android
4.2.2 using the custom release by PAC Team called PACman ROM. The key
difference between the unique PACman ROM and other custom firmwares is
the PAC ROM integrates the best features from CyanogenMod 10.1, AOKP and
Paranoid Android.

PAC v22.1.0 Jelly Bean ROM is available for Sony Xperia Z.

PAC v22.1.0 Jelly Bean ROM is available for Sony Xperia Z.

Senior XDA developer jeroenqui has shared the PACman ROM
v22.1.0 allowing users to experience the features of the latest Jelly
Bean software. The developer, however, has noted that the ROM is a
stable firmware but users may come across minor bug issues since it is
in WIP stage.

Some of the devices are said to have encountered "Baseband unknown"
issue after installing the custom build. However, there is a fix for
this. Head over to the development page to learn about it.

Xperia Z users who wish to install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using PACman ROM, may follow our step-by-step guide.

IBTimes UK reminds its readers that it will not be
held liable for any damage to the device. Users are advised to ensure
that their devices meet the following requirements before proceeding.

Pre-requisites

1) Install USB Driver for Sony Xperia Z on the computer.

2) Enable USB Debugging Mode on the phone to connect it with the
computer and use Android SDK with it. [Press Menu>>
Settings>> Applications. From there navigate and click on
Development option and ensure the USB Debugging Mode is turned on.]

3) As the tutorial is likely to wipe out all data of the phone,
create a backup. If the device is having custom recovery such as
ClockworkMod/TWRP already installed then users are advised to back up
data using the same.

4) The bootloader of Xperia Z should be unlocked.

5) The phone should have a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod/TWRP already installed. Follow the guide here to install CWM recovery on Xperia Z.

6) Ensure that the battery of Xperia Z should have more than 80 per cent charge.

7) The PACman Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM works only on Sony Xperia
Z. Installing this on any other variant might brick the device.

8) Before proceeding, users are advised to create a Nandroid backup
of the existing ROM in case the new ROM does not work. Turn off the
Xperia Z and boot the device into recovery mode by holding the Volume Up
and Power buttons together. In the recovery mode, select Backup and Restore then select Backup again.

Steps to install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on Sony Xperia Z with PACman ROM

1) Download the PACman Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM for Sony Xperia Z to the computer [Alternative link]

2) Connect the Xperia Z to the computer using USB cable. Then copy
the downloaded ROM zip file to the internal storage of the phone

3) Download the Fastboot package to the computer. Unzip the downloaded fastboot.zip file into the C drive c:. It will generate fastboot folder containing four files

4) Unzip the downloaded Jelly Bean ROM zip to get the boot.img file. Copy the boot.img file to fastboot folder

5) Switch off the Xperia Z

6) Boot the phone into fastboot mode by holding Volume Down and Power buttons together

7) Connect the phone to the computer using USB cable while the device is in the fastboot mode

8) Open the command prompt on the computer. Go to Start menu>> All Programmes>> Accessories

9) Enter the following command on the command prompt. Doing so will take to the fastboot folder

cd c:Fastboot

10) Enter the following command prompt to install boot.img

fastboot flash boot boot.img

A message saying waiting for device should appear. Now enter another command to install kernel

fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot boot.img

When the boot.img is installed on the phone, a message saying finished/OKAY will appear

11) Once the installation process is completed, unplug the USB cable from the phone and place it into recovery mode

12) In recovery mode, perform data wiping task by selecting Wipe data/factory reset and confirm the action on the next screen. Then select wipe cache and confirm the action on the next screen. Now select advanced then select wipe cache dalvik and confirm the action

13) Once the wiping process is completed, return to the main recovery

14) Select install zip from sdcard then select choose zip from sdcard. Then navigate to the ROM zip. Select it and confirm installation

15) Once the installation process is completed, return to the main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot the phone

When the Sony Xperia Z boots up successfully, it should be updated
with PACman Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM. Head over to Settings>>
